All about Cosmetic Injectables

Many plastic surgery establishments and spas offer cosmetic injectables and derma fillers to minimize the general appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. The common injectables include Restylane, Juvederm, Radiessee and Botox.

Botox

Botox injection is a FDA-approved wrinkle minimizer that is suitably used on the frown lines of your forehead and crow’s feet of your external eye. This treatment is an injectable-based product that incapacitates contraction of muscles that are responsible for triggering the wrinkles.
The effects are temporary and can last for around 3 months after the Botox treatment. Medical experts recommend that Botox treatment be repeated after every 3-6 months. The treatment procedure itself takes around 30 minutes and the recovery progresses well if the swelling subsides; often happens after at least 24 hours. The prospective candidates for the Botox injections are individuals of 30-60 years in age who want to reduce 80 percent of the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
The most essential thing to take into account is that the part to be injected be vital to the ultimate success of the treatment. Ensure that your surgeon has relevant certification and experience to offer the Botox treatments. Don’t be afraid to ask for his/ her credentials and even before-and-after pictures of the previous patients.

Juvederm

It is a gel injectable that minimizes the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines by up to 80 percent. Juvederm was approved by FDA for use in the year 2006 and continues to grow more popular because of its more natural results as compared to other treatments. The procedure lasts for about 6-10 months before another injection is required to maintain results.
If the second injection is done within seven days after the first injection, then the results would certainly last longer. There are often three types of formulas available but you need to discuss with your doctor which type would produce the best results that you desire. The formulas are Juvederm 30, Juvederm 24 and Juvederm 18. Each formula raises the density of gel injected. Some of the most common post-treatment side effects include swelling and redness which usually subside by the fourth day after treatment. Normal activities can be resumed immediately.

Radiessee

Radiessee is a unique injectable used to fill in the wrinkles around your mouth or nose and could also be used to fill some scars. The procedure can be carried out in less than one hour but can last much longer than the Botox injections; results often last for two or more years. Sometimes, touch pads may be required within the 2-year period but are quite minimal.
The full results of the procedure can be realized within seven days after the injection. Swelling usually reduces after 24-36 hours. The prospective candidates are often people between 35-65 years of age who desire to minimize the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines by 80 percent.

Restylane

These injections have grown popular because of their longer lasting effects than Botox; around 6 or more months. Patients are usually between 30-60 years old and want to reduce appearance of wrinkles on the forehead, around the mouth and nose. It is also a common injection for plumping the lips and smile lines.
